Welcome to Guildford Radiology Group
Guildford Radiology Group (GRG) provides private diagnostic imaging and image-guided treatments in Guildford and Surrey, including ultrasound scans in Guildford, MRI and CT, with every scan reported by a consultant radiologist with the right specialist expertise.
Our consultant radiologists supervise, perform and report scans, and carry out image-guided procedures. We work closely with GPs, hospital consultants and other healthcare professionals, and can help co-ordinate investigations and treatment at the Royal Surrey and local private hospitals.
About Guildford Radiology Group
GRG is a group of 15 consultant radiologists based in Guildford, Surrey. We formed as a group of like-minded consultants with a shared emphasis on quality, so that every patient receives the right sub-specialist opinion.
All of our members work as NHS consultant radiologists at the Royal Surrey County Hospital, are Fellows of the Royal College of Radiologists and are registered with the General Medical Council. Many hold lead roles in their specialist areas within the NHS.

- Musculoskeletal and sports imaging – orthopaedic, rheumatology and sports imaging, heel pain and plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendinopathy, ultrasound-guided joint and soft tissue injections, barbotage for calcific tendinitis and radiofrequency ablation for Morton’s neuroma (ultrasound and image-guided procedures: Dr Andrew Carne; MSK MRI: Dr Emma Wood)
- Breast imaging – breast screening, symptomatic breast assessment, contrast-enhanced mammography, breast ultrasound, breast MRI and image-guided breast biopsy (Dr Aneet Sian, Dr Victoria Scott, Dr Gemma Price, Dr Jamie Russell)
- Oncological imaging, PET-CT and nuclear medicine – cancer staging and follow-up across all body systems, PET-CT and image-guided biopsy for tissue diagnosis (Dr James Crawshaw, Dr Natasha Hamilton, Dr Sanjin Idriz, Dr Lilia Khafizova, Dr Shelley Chapman)

- Paediatric imaging – child-centred imaging for infants, children and adolescents, with a focus on minimising radiation exposure (Dr Jordan Green, Dr Sarah Watson, Dr Mark Ingram, Dr Emma Wood)
- Neuroradiology, head and neck – neurological, head and neck and thyroid imaging, including ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration (Dr Sarah Watson, Dr Sanjin Idriz)
- Interventional radiology – vascular and venous intervention, venous access and portacath insertion, varicocele embolisation, tumour ablation and embolisation (including TACE), and image-guided drainage (Dr Alex Horton, Dr Shelley Chapman)
- General ultrasound – including abdominal aortic aneurysm assessment, which all of our radiologists provide. Dr Andrew Carne performs all types of ultrasound except breast and penile ultrasound, and Dr Alex Horton provides penile ultrasound, including assessment of erectile dysfunction
GRG works with GPs, specialist consultants and professional sports teams. We provide ultrasound, CT and MRI as well as a wide range of image-guided procedures for both NHS and private patients. Some ultrasound and musculoskeletal MRI scans can be arranged without a GP referral – see self-referral.
