The Royal Surrey has joined four other NHS trusts across Surrey and Sussex in moving to a shared, cloud-based Sectra PACS imaging system. The others are Ashford and St Peter’s, East Sussex Healthcare, Queen Victoria Hospital and University Hospitals Sussex. Together they serve around 1.2 million people.
The shared system means clinicians can see a patient’s scans from any of the participating hospitals without images having to be transferred manually. This helps avoid repeat scans and the extra radiation dose they involve, and supports richer radiology reports.
Dr Andrew Carne, Chief Clinical Information Officer at the Royal Surrey and a member of Guildford Radiology Group, was a clinical lead for the project.
