New digital PET-CT scanner announced for Guildford

A new digital PET-CT scanner is to open at Surrey Research Park in Guildford, with the existing PET-CT service relocating there from the Royal Surrey County Hospital. The new unit, due to open in spring 2022, is expected to offer more appointments, better image quality and a more comfortable experience for patients.

PET-CT combines a CT scan with a scan that shows how active tissues are, and is widely used to stage cancer and check how well treatment is working. Several Guildford Radiology Group members, including Dr James Crawshaw and Dr Natasha Hamilton, have a specialist interest in PET-CT and oncological imaging.
